Changes and My Lack Of Blogging

I haven’t blogged a lot lately. In fact, I think my last post came on March 22. Why is that? Well, I’m moving. I’m joining the pastoral team at Cornerstone Ministries in Napa, California. It’s a busy time for my family and I as you can imagine.

What will I be doing there? I’ll be an assistant pastor with an emphasis on teaching and outreach. I will NOT be the worship pastor. But I’ll still lead worship from time to time.

What does that mean for this blog? That’s a good question. I’m hoping that when the dust settles I’ll have more time to write. One of the things that I feel has helped define this blog is that I’m not the paid worship pastor at a big church. I’ve been the unpaid, volunteer music director at a very normal church. It’s partly why I started this blog, in that I felt that a lot of the blogs and podcasts for worship leaders weren’t dealing in the reality I knew. So while my job and role is changing a lot will remain the same. I’m not the worship pastor so my musical involvement will be my own personal ministry. Cornerstone is an average church, not a mega church, so I’ll still be dealing with the realities of worship ministry in the real world. In addition, since I won’t be the one setting the vision for music like I was at Calvary:Arlington I’ll be able to write things from a different perspective which will be a good thing for the blog.

So, that’s why I haven’t been writing much. Hope that changes in the next few months.
